Born in South Western Ontario Amberlea grew up dancing and singing along in her bedroom to Broadway, Jazz and Pop classics. For her 16th Birthday her Dad bought her, her first guitar so she could begin learning to play. Throughout High-School she learned classical guitar and Piano, but really just wanted to sing and write her own music. It all came together when she started working with a vocal coach and picked up the guitar again in university, this time to write.
Passionate about storytelling through songwriting and building up communities that inspire others to pursue and live their dreams, Amberlea is the co-founder of The Songbirds Series. The Songbirds Series is an all female Canadian singer-songwriter community focused on building up female Canadian singer-songwriters through providing them with a platform to connect and perform. Last year the Songbirds Series hosted two writers rounds through Instagram Live which featured artists from across Canada.
In addition to building up The Songbirds Series Amberlea spent 2020 building up her catalogue of songs through both writing and recording. In June 2020 she recorded her first three songs at Union Studios in Toronto, Ontario. One of these songs entitled Something New will premier as her debut single February 19th, 2021 and be released to radio February 23rd, 2021.
An emerging country music artist her sound is rooted in natural instrumentation and elements that provide an almost live tonal quality. Her hope is that as a result the listener feels the heartbeat in each of her songs and the stories they illustrate. With inspirations ranging from Shania Twain to Maren Morris and Phil Collins she looks forward to further building on her sound throughout 2021 by spending time writing and recording for two EPs which she plans to release in 2022.
